2012.

Yeah, it's a movie.

Not just ANY movie- It's another movie about the end of the world.

Some of the representations might be overplayed, super sized and maybe a bit scientifically unlikely (I wouldn't know.) And the hero never dies like some old Hindustan flick but, heck- who cares? It's the message being conveyed that really, really matters.

Beyond the Hollywood magic, beyond the cliche storyline-

We all know pretty well that the world IS going to end. We just don't quite know when, true?

For me, it was fun watching the movie because

1) The lead character was a Geologist

2) I want to be a Geologist

3) The movie was filled with all sorts of Geological terms, I smiled whenever the cinema went "Ha? Plate? What plate?" Hahahhahaha...

4) It made more sense to me than the rest of the audience when they said "AVOID YELLOWSTONE" Half the cinema didn't even know what Yellowstone was. Supervolcano, baby! Hot stuff. Psssssstttt... Hahahaha xD

5)People didn't get it either when the plane wanted to land in Hawaii but all there was was a bunch of volcano vents sprouted here and there, spewing molten lava. Duh, Hawaii was FORMED by volcanic eruptions. Kilauea, baby! Kilaueaaa!

The movie was speaking my language allright. (:

Geological fun aside, the movie opened my eye to a lot of other things, like;

HOW TO SURVIVE THE APOCALYPSE, 2012 STYLE!
(Like anyone would survive. >__<>
1. Learn how to fly a plane. Should you have enough money, you could get yourself a private plane to fly too. Else, bribe the pilot with a very, very expensive watch like Curtis did.

2. Have lots and lots and lots of money. It can't buy you happiness but it'll get you a ticket for your survival! In this movie's case, a ticket onto the ark.

Jackson : How much did you pay for this?
Yuri : One billion Euros.
Jackson : That. Is. Sick.
Yuri : One billion Euros, per seat.
Jackson : O_O

3. If you should be destined to die anyway and you know it, write a book in advance. Just a way of leaving your mark on the world before you leave the world (or the world disappears) xD Jackson's book wasn't a bestseller. But the Geologist had a copy and it survived. Haha, can't write a book? 'Guess a song or a Youtube vid would do. Hahaha...

4. Be nice. Case proven when Yuri Karpov (the dude who paid a billion Euros for a seat on the arc) totally seemed to be destined to die when he totally used Jackson's family to get to the arc. He never made it onto the arc. He died falling off the platform. Bye one billion Euros! Jackson's family got on for FREE. Ha. Ha.

5. Didn't your Mama teach you not to use the finger? Well, I'm telling you- don't use the finger! It's just rude! And Tamara who did use the finger, flashing it angrily at Yuri (poor thing was stuck on the platform) for making a fool of her. She got on the arc. But she drowned in it. Hahahah...

6. Have super-smart friends! If it weren't for Adrian the Geologist's best friend who happens to be an ASTROPHYSICIST, he would've have known about the end of the world. Sad thing, his friend didn't make it out. ):

7. Trust the crazy radio deejay living in a caravan. Don't say you weren't warned. xD

Hahahahaha, enough making fun of the movie.

Some things though, were just too true. Like the fact that money and power both play a huge role in this movie. Only a few select nations were chosen to board the ark, the rest were simply left out of the grand scheme of things. The poor were left to die.

Only some nation heads chose to stay (the US and Italian President stayed behind in this movie) Even the Pope and the Dalai Lama stayed behind for cryin' out loud. Sheesh.

Art pieces and monuments were given more priority than a few human lives. And not only that, the rooms in the ark were like, SPACIOUS. Fully equipped with a queen-sized bed and even a pantry. It could've easily fit 5 people comfortably, or more!

But again, the more powerful governments practically bought their way into survival. The perfect government agent then explains that they chose the people mounting the ark for their superior genes, for the continuity of the species, yada-yada when it's the fattest wallet they're really looking for. It just makes me sick. Really, really sick.

All in all, I'm still a big fan of John Cusack. Haha! :D

And after crying my eyes out in the movie theatre thinking it could've been me killed in that situation, the credits rolled in. And Adam Lambert started singing.

Almost instantly, I forgot about the end of the world. (I guess that's just what Adam Lambert does to a girl, no?) I stopped in my steps, telling my Dad to wait and I smiled to myself.

Life is here and now, and it's definitely Time For Miracles- cause you'd never know when that day will come along. Never take things for granted.

Having said that, I thank all of you for being good friends of mine- forgive me if I haven't been the greatest friend. I know I get temperamental all the time. (:

Ana, Jaja, Shihah - Kakak loves you three. Don't ever forget that. Thanks for being the best lil' sisters a sister could ask for. (:

Mama, Bak and Abah - Best parents ever. Love you, love you, love you. (:

And to close this post, thank you Allah for giving me another day to live. May this new day be filed with Your blessings. Amin.
